Jonas Akerlund is a famous Swedish director who has directed music videos for the likes of Madonna, U2, Rolling Stones, Beyonce, Pink, Jennifer Lopez, Metallica, Paul McCartney, Ozzy Osbourne, Robbie Williams, Christina Aguilera, Smashing Pumpkins, Lenny Kravitz and Maroon 5 and many more. His music video's have won him several Grammy Awards, MTV Awards (including Best Director) and the MVPA Hall of Fame Award.
He has directed TV adverts for the likes of Dior, Dell, Volkswagen, Virgin, Coca Cola, Smirnoff, Ikea, Panasonic and Adidas and more.
He first found fame as main video director for Swedish pop act Roxette, to date he has directed 11 of there videos.
Akerlund's videos are pieces of cinematic perfection, using cinematography effectively. Mostly all of his videos have strong messages in. He uses images to shock and uses the surprise element to full effect to keep the audiences attention and to make sure that they are talking about his videos for days.
Many of his music videos could be viewed to be more like "mini movies" as they are lengthier than average music videos, also most of Akerlund's videos have a narrative structure of beginning, middle and end.
A good example of his work is the music video for Lady Gaga's Paparazzi.
Shane Drake
Shane C. Drake is an American music video director. He has directed videos for bands such as Trivium, Paramore, Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco, Angels & Airwaves, Flo Rida, Timbaland, Blindside, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, The Almost, Hawthorne Heights, and many more.
He owns his own company Red Van Pictures, which is an LA based production company.
Early on in his career he became an editor and cinematographer working with such bands as Poison the Well, Deftones, Thursday, and many more.
He mostly produces video's for the rock genre and sub genres, he has won many MTV Music Video Awards for his work with the likes of Fall Out Boy, Paramore and Panic At The Disco.
One of his most famous video's is the music video for "Decode" By Paramore, this video helped the band become famous. As this song one of the songs on the soundtrack of the majorly popular Twilight film.
